Tips for the Year:

First Day To-Do’s:
1. Suit up
a. Don’t dress to look like them or one of their friends.
b. Kids notice dress
2. Smile
a. Greet them
b. Shake their hands, smile, show some enthusiasm
3. Set the Rules
a. Veteran teachers agree that four or five basic rules work
b. Let the kids decide and have ownership
c. Once rules have been created go over each and talk about what that might include or look like
4. Make a friend
5. Write it all down
6. Start a feel-good file (Why I am a Teacher folder)

2. A notepad that makes carbonless copies when you can’t get to the copier machine.
